She was the great-great-granddaughter of the legendary Nampeyo of Hano (one of the most influential Native American artists of the modern era) and the daughter of Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo. She learned pottery-making from her mother and began producing work around 1970 (or as early as the 1960s).
