Born in 1967, she learned the art from her mother, Linda Cain, and grandmother, Mary Cain, starting with animal figurines and small pots as a child. She is part of a renowned lineage, being the sister of Tammy Garcia, granddaughter of Mary Cain, and great-granddaughter of Christina Naranjo. Her work is characterized by the traditional Pueblo technique of coil-building, using clay gathered from the hillsides near Santa Clara Pueblo, which she processes herself. Borts-Medlock's designs often incorporate Tewa cultural symbols such as kiva steps, bear paws, feathers, rain clouds, water serpents, and lightning bolts, polished to a mirror-like finish with smooth stones.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Antique American Indian Art","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45878109307045,"sku":"22-0326","price":675.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0718\/6071\/5685\/files\/22-0326_1_c26e7bce-18b6-4185-b34b-21b44b30c3c0.jpg?v=1771275738","url":"https:\/\/antiqueamericanindianart.com\/products\/22-0326-autumn-borts-scp-7-97-black-carved-pot","provider":"Antique American Indian Art","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
