She belonged to the Bear Clan and was a key figure in the continuation of Hopi-Tewa pottery traditions. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShe learned pottery-making as a child from her mother (TaTung Pawbe) and her famous neighbor, Nampeyo of Hano, the influential reviver of ancient Sikyatki-style pottery. Chapella became known for her high-quality, often off-white or light-colored pots with traditional designs inspired by ancient pottery shards she collected. Her signature motifs included butterflies\/moths (now associated with her family), rain birds, geometric patterns, and elements from Sikyatki ruins.
