Students were often encouraged to copy traditional designs from their parents’ or tribal baskets, but the materials and construction were non-traditional: typically raffia weft on a willow warp, rather than the plant materials and techniques used in authentic tribal basketry. Similar kits were also marketed to non-Native buyers as a popular craft, so it is frequently impossible to determine whether a given example was made by a Native student, a non-Native hobbyist, or under mixed direction.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Antique American Indian Art","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51077770182821,"sku":"260929-106","price":105.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0718\/6071\/5685\/files\/260929-106_2.jpg?v=1793653703","url":"https:\/\/antiqueamericanindianart.com\/products\/indian-school-basket-1","provider":"Antique American Indian Art","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
