She was born in 1950 into the Jemez Pueblo and began working with clay around age 10 under the guidance of her mother, Cecilia Loretto. She specializes in handmade, hand-coiled traditional Jemez pottery using locally gathered clay. Pieces are typically stone-polished, painted with natural and commercial slips\/paints in two-toned or polychrome styles, and outdoor-fired in the ancestral method. Common forms include jars, seed pots, vases, wedding vases, and miniatures; frequent designs feature feathers, geometrics, kiva steps, clouds, corn motifs, and similar traditional elements, sometimes combining matte and polished surfaces. She comes from a pottery family that includes sisters Caroline G. Loretto and Mary H. Loretto, aunts such as Florence and Rachael Aragon, and daughters Natalie Sandia, Rachael Sandia, and Jocelyn Sandia. Her work has earned awards at venues including the Santa Fe Indian Market and Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. She has been active as a potter for decades.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Antique American Indian Art","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51098832928933,"sku":"1473-10","price":64.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0718\/6071\/5685\/files\/1473-10_2.jpg?v=1793814146","url":"https:\/\/antiqueamericanindianart.com\/products\/jemez-pueblo-indian-pottery-by-g-sandia","provider":"Antique American Indian Art","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
