She was a member of the Corn Clan, born to parents Joe and Persingula Gachupin, and began learning the traditional art of pottery making at around age 8, inspired by her grandparents and family traditions.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJemez Pueblo pottery, including pieces by Marie G. Romero, is traditionally polychrome (multi-colored), featuring red and buff (cream\/beige) tones with designs in black, often combining stone-polished slips (for shiny areas) and matte paints.
