He originally worked as a welder but turned to carving full-time after an injury. Chee carves primarily from cottonwood root using traditional Hopi knife-carving techniques. His dynamic sculptures emphasize realistic anatomy, movement, and cultural storytelling. He often collaborates with family members and creates both Hopi Katsinam (Kachina figures) and Navajo-themed pieces. His work has earned recognition, including Best of Class at the Santa Fe Indian Market.

Chee is known for highly detailed, lifelike contemporary Kachina dolls that capture the spirit and motion of the figures as they appear in Hopi ceremonies.

https://antiqueamericanindianart.com/products/l125-hopi-kachina-hopi-long-horned-wapla-ala-by-raymond-chee
