Nuu-chah-nulth (formerly called Nootka) and closely related Makah artists on the Northwest Coast (primarily Vancouver Island and the Olympic Peninsula) have a long tradition of creating wrapped-twined \"trinket\" baskets (called pika-uu in Nuu-chah-nulth) from bear grass or other sea\/swamp grasses, often combined with cedar bark. These small, decorative lidded baskets became popular for trade\/sale in the late 19th–20th centuries and frequently feature pictorial designs such as whalers, canoes, whales, birds, or geometric patterns.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Antique American Indian Art","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47967812911269,"sku":"260623-12","price":810.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0718\/6071\/5685\/files\/260623-12_1.jpg?v=1783103177","url":"https:\/\/antiqueamericanindianart.com\/products\/nootka-lidded-basket-by-mary-moses","provider":"Antique American Indian Art","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
