She comes from a well-regarded family of potters. Her mother was Pablita Chavarria, and her sisters—Clara Shije, Reycita Naranjo, Mary Singer, and Elizabeth Naranjo—are also recognized potters. The family is associated with classic Santa Clara blackware traditions. Florence learned pottery from her mother. She worked for many years at the Indian Health Service and produced less pottery during that period; she became better known as a potter after retiring. She demonstrated pottery-making techniques in summers at Bandelier National Park and participated in Santa Fe Indian Market for about 13 years (roughly 1985–1995). She appears in sources including the catalog for the 1979 Albuquerque Museum exhibit One Space\/Three Visions and Rick Dillingham’s Fourteen Families in Pueblo Pottery, as well as Gregory Schaaf’s Pueblo Indian Pottery: 750 Artist Biographies.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Antique American Indian Art","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50720544391333,"sku":"261008-04","price":470.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0718\/6071\/5685\/files\/261008-04_2.jpg?v=1792611547","url":"https:\/\/antiqueamericanindianart.com\/products\/santa-clara-pueblo-carved-black-pottery-by-florence-browning","provider":"Antique American Indian Art","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
