He specialized in traditional carved blackware and redware pottery (often large jars with bold designs such as the avanyu\/water serpent), then later in the intricate sgraffito (incised) technique on smaller and miniature seed pots, often depicting animals, Pueblo life scenes, stories, and sunflower motifs linked to his Tewa name. He sometimes collaborated with his children.
