Calvin Weeka is a Zuni Pueblo fetish carver from New Mexico, known for crafting highly detailed carvings, often in Picasso Marble, that realistically depict animal fur and skin textures. He is a member of the extended Laate family, which includes other prominent Zuni carvers such as Derrick Kaamasee and Colin Weeka. The wolf is an important animal in Zuni Pueblo fetish carvings. It is a teacher of new ideas and wisdom, and represents intense loyalty with a balance of independence. It is family oriented, and symbolizes warmth. It is a deeply spiritual figure for many carvers and owners, a pathfinder on journey of survival and a night story teller. The wolf is part of six-directional fetish carvings, along with mountain lions, badgers, bears, eagles and moles.
