Hand Coiled Clay Pottery in a Cylinder Shape Form with Painting in a Geometric Design
In Very Good Condition
Hopi Pueblo polychrome cylindrical pottery is a distinctive form of hand-coiled ceramic vessels made by Hopi (and often Hopi-Tewa) artists, primarily from First Mesa in northeastern Arizona. These tall, straight-sided or slightly tapering jars (sometimes called cylinders or vases) feature multiple colors with black and red or brown designs on a yellow, orange, or cream-colored base—and draw heavily from ancient ancestral Hopi traditions.
