Hopi Pueblo cylinder pottery jars (also called cylindrical jars or vases) are a distinctive form of traditional hand-coiled pottery made by Hopi (and often Hopi-Tewa) artists, primarily from First Mesa in northeastern Arizona.  These jars are tall, straight-sided or slightly tapering vessels, often ranging from about 5–14 inches in height. They are typically polychrome: featuring black and red (or brown) painted designs on a yellow, orange, cream, or buff-colored slip base.
