The Hopi Pueblo Snow Maiden Hand Sculpture Kachina Doll is a traditional Hopi Katsina (or Kachina) figure known as Nuvak'chin Mana (also spelled Qotsa Mana or Qotsamanavitu), the Snow Maiden. This is a hand-carved wooden sculpture representing a female spirit from Hopi Pueblo culture in northeastern Arizona. These dolls, called tithu in Hopi, are not mere toys but sacred educational tools used to teach Hopi children—especially young girls—about the Katsinam, immortal spirits that embody natural elements, ancestors, and deities. The Snow Maiden specifically symbolizes winter, snow, and moisture, serving as a prayer for cold weather to ensure fertile soil in spring for planting crops.
