Hand Carved from Cottonwood Root in one Piece Signed Coleen Talawytewa of the Crazy Rattle Doll Holding a Bow and a Rattle

In Very Good Condition

Colleen Talahytewa is a respected Hopi carver from Moenkopi Village, Arizona (part of the Rabbit/Tabasco clans). Born in 1968, she is one of the notable female Hopi kachina doll makers in a tradition historically dominated by men. Her works are typically hand-carved from cottonwood root, painted with natural pigments or acrylics, and often accented with leather, fur, feathers, and other materials. She signs many of her pieces, and examples from the 1990s (like the one referenced) are sought after by collectors.
