John Poleahla Jr. is a master Hopi carver from the Third Mesa village of Hotevilla on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona.  He specializes in traditional Katsina dolls made from a single piece of cottonwood root, often featuring intricate feather ruffs, natural pigments, and symbolic details. His work is highly collectible and has been featured in museum shops and galleries.  He comes from a lineage of carvers—his father, John Poleahla Sr., and relatives like Anthony and Nick Poleahla are also noted Hopi artists.
