Antique Great Lakes beaded sashes are beautiful examples of Native American beadwork from the Indigenous peoples of the Great Lakes region, including tribes such as the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe/Chippewa), Potawatomi, Menominee, Winnebago (Ho-Chunk), and others in the Woodlands cultural area.

These sashes, often made using loom beading techniques, date primarily from the late 19th to early 20th century (with some examples as early as ca. 1800 or the mid-1800s). They were crafted by women artists who incorporated glass seed beads (introduced through European trade) in vibrant colors to create intricate patterns on a base of wool yarn, cotton thread, or fabric.
