Lawrence Lewis is a Native American artist (often associated with Hopi/Navajo styles) known for carving kachina dolls, including examples like Owl kachinas and others sold through galleries, Etsy, and auction sites.
The Hp'o'te Flowers of the Spring Doll (also spelled Ho-o-te, Ho'ote, or Ahote in various sources) is a traditional Hopi katsina (kachina) figure carved and painted to represent the Ho'o'te spirit. This katsina is associated with springtime and the blooming of flowers—its symbols (often floral motifs between the eyes and on the forehead) are said to forecast or invoke the arrival of spring flowers. Ho'o'te typically appears in groups during ordinary kachina dances and sometimes in the Niman (Home) ceremony, and it's popular for its well-liked songs in Hopi traditions.
