Valverde Nevayaktewa, a Hopi (sometimes noted as Hopi-Tewa) artist active in the late 20th century. He is known for carving detailed katsina dolls, including innovative or paired figures.
Butterfly Maiden, a female dancer. She symbolizes beauty, pollination of crops (as butterflies visit flowers in spring), grace, and serves as a role model for young Hopi girls, teaching virtues like modesty and diligence. She typically appears in ceremonies like the Night Dances, often alongside the Butterfly Kachina (Polikatsina), unmasked as a woman's role in the dances.
Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
