The Owl Kachina (often called Mongwu or Great Horned Owl) symbolizes wisdom, night, protection, or sometimes warnings in Hopi lore. Navajo artisans have long produced similar dolls for the tourist/collector market, frequently blending styles or copying Hopi forms—sometimes called "Navajo kachinas."
