The Owl Kachina (known as Mongwa in Hopi lore, adopted by Navajo carvers) represents intelligence, wisdom, and a successful hunt.  It's beneficial to agriculture, as the owl is seen as a predator that controls harmful rodents. In dances, the Owl Kachina often appears in mixed ceremonies and is famous for scolding and "whipping" mischievous Clown Dancers with yucca blades to enforce proper behavior.
