Cutam is the signature/mark of the Navajo carver/artist who made this piece. Navajo artisans frequently create kachina-style dolls inspired by Hopi traditions (sold as tourist/collectible items or for decorative purposes), traditional kachina carving and full ceremonial use are primarily Hopi. This one is noted as Navajo-made/hand-carved.

Crow Mother (Angwusnasomtaqa or similar names) is a well-known female figure—considered the mother of many kachinas, associated with initiation ceremonies like the Powamu (Bean Dance), and often shown with crow wings, a tableta headdress, and yucca whips—"Father Crow" is less commonly referenced as a standard type. Its a male counterpart, or an artistic interpretation emphasizing crow/raven symbolism (crows/ravens appear in some Southwestern Native lore as clever or protective spirits). Some pieces are labeled "Crow Father" in art contexts, like paintings or carvings depicting a crow/raven kachina dancer.
