The Long-Haired Katsina, also known as Angak’china, is a significant spirit being in Hopi religious traditions, symbolizing the bringer of rain and flowers. This Katsina is characterized by long, flowing hair and a beard, which are symbolic representations of falling rain. Eagle fluffs worn on the head represent cloud bursts, while feathers on the back symbolize prayers for rain. The Long-Haired Katsina is often depicted as a singer who performs melodious songs, and their dances are traditionally associated with the arrival of gentle rainfall, which nourishes the earth and helps crops grow. It is said that they seldom dance without the appearance of soft, gentle rain.
