Pre-Columbian Mexica (commonly known as Aztec) pottery is a ceramic traditions of the Nahuatl-speaking Mexica people who established the Aztec Empire in central Mexico, particularly in the Valley of Mexico, from around 1325 to 1521 CE (Late Postclassic period). While the empire rose relatively late in Mesoamerican history, their pottery built on earlier regional traditions (such as influences from Toltec and other central Mexican styles) and served both everyday practical needs and ritual or elite purposes.
