Sam Dimmick (born 1960 in Nome, Alaska; family from Shishmaref) is a well-known Inupiaq carver from a lineage of ivory, whalebone, and stone artists. He began carving at age 4, influenced by his uncles Roy and Gordon Dimmick, and later trained with several Alaska Native master carvers. He now lives in California but frequently travels to promote and sell his work at Native art events.
