Manuel Kooyahoema (1939–2007) was a respected Hopi artist from Arizona, known for his detailed, hand-carved cottonwood root katsina dolls. He signed works as M.L. Kooyahoema or similar variations and created pieces now in collections like the National Museum of the American Indian. His carvings often feature intricate painting with natural pigments, feathers, and dynamic poses, reflecting traditional Hopi styles while appealing to collectors.

Sotuknangu is known as the "Heart of the Sky God" or "Heart of the Sky." He is both a katsina (spirit being) and a major deity associated with the sky, weather, creation, and destruction. He controls elements like thunder, lightning, rain, stars, and planets, embodying dual roles as a life-giver (bringing rain and fertility) and a potential destroyer (through storms or celestial forces). In Hopi cosmology, he is a fearsome yet essential figure who maintains cosmic balance.

Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
