Mid/Late 20th Century

11" H x 3.5" D

Hand Carved from Cottonwood Root and Adorned with String, Fibers and Feathers. Various Hopi dolls represent other Non-Hopi peoples such as the Tasaf which represents the Navajo. This is likely a revival of an earlier style of doll.

In Very Good Condition

The Tasaf (or Navajo Kachina) is one of several katsina dolls that represent neighboring or non-Hopi peoples, reflecting cultural interactions in the Southwest. It often portrays a Navajo figure or draws inspiration from Navajo Yeibichai (Yei Bi Chei) figures, such as the Talking God (a benevolent leader in Navajo ceremonies who communicates through gestures rather than speech).

Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
