Russell Sanchez: A renowned Native American potter from San Ildefonso Pueblo, born in 1963 or 1966 (sources vary), known for his innovative pottery techniques. He learned from his great-aunt Rose Gonzales and other notable potters like Dora Tse-Pe and Tony Da. His work features traditional methods like hand-coiling and stone polishing, often incorporating turquoise inlays and unique clay colors. He has won numerous awards, including at the Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair. His pottery is in collections like the Smithsonian and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture.
