Arthur Yowytewa (1922–2006) was a renowned Hopi carver from the Second Mesa village of Mishongnovi, known for his traditional "old-style" kachina dolls that emphasize authenticity and detail. He began carving in the 1940s, influenced by earlier masters, and produced works spanning mid-century to the early 2000s. Yowytewa's pieces often feature fine feather work, precise painting, and a patina from natural aging, making them prized by collectors. He signed many dolls on the base or foot, sometimes including dates. His oeuvre includes other kachinas like Crow Mother and Hey Heya, with examples in museum collections such as the Smithsonian and Heard Museum.
