Lawrence Namoki (1949–2020) was a highly acclaimed Hopi potter and kachina carver from Walpi, the oldest village on First Mesa, Arizona. Born into the Flute-Deer Clan, he was deeply rooted in Hopi culture, with his father, Maxwell, serving as a high priest and kachina maker. Namoki’s work is celebrated for its intricate carvings, unique wood-like finishes, and storytelling through Hopi myths and symbols.
