Grace Chapella or Mark Tahbo, both renowned Hopi-Tewa potters.

Grace Chapella (1874–1980) was a masterful Hopi-Tewa potter from the Spider Clan, known for her thin-walled, polished pottery and traditional designs. She continued crafting pottery past her 100th birthday, leaving a significant legacy. Her work often featured classic Hopi forms like seed jars and water ollas, with designs rooted in ancestral Sikyatki patterns, using natural clay slips and beeweed for black pigment. Her pottery is highly valued by collectors for its craftsmanship and cultural significance. She passed down her skills to her great-grandchildren, including Mark Tahbo and Dianna Tahbo.

Mark Tahbo (1958–2017), Grace’s great-grandson, was a celebrated Hopi-Tewa potter of the Tobacco Clan. He began potting in 1978, known for thin-walled vessels with a high polish, often blending traditional Sikyatki designs with his own innovations. His works, like large polychrome seed jars, feature intricate geometric and bird motifs, with unique touches like upturned rims.
