Bernadette Track is a respected contemporary potter from Taos Pueblo, New Mexico, known for traditional micaceous clay pottery, including seed jars (also called seed pots). Bernadette Track comes from a multi-generational family of potters. Her mother was Geronima Suazo Track (also a potter and model), and she is part of a lineage including sisters, daughters (e.g., Dawning Pollen Shorty), and others who continue the tradition. She learned traditional methods (including the Tiwa language and pottery techniques) from childhood, began making pottery around 1980, and also has a background in theater and dance.  Her work includes utilitarian and ceremonial forms like bean pots, water jars, skillets, and seed jars/pots. She collects and processes her own micaceous clay from local sources (e.g., Sangre de Cristo mountains) and uses pit-firing. Pieces may feature horsehair accents in some firings.
