Anderson Weahkee (1958-2009)
From a private estate collection.
Elk Antler; turquoise eye/mouth inlay. Mother of Pearl/coral/turquoise/heishe offering, feathers.
Collector notes: Recently deceased carver. 'His bow priest carvings follow the tradition of his grandfather's (Teddie), an example of which can be seen on p. 24 of Oscar Branson's book. Anderson stopped carving after about 2001 and was never a very prolific carver. Very rare and deserve high prices as they are unique and only a member of the Bow Priest society would dare to carve them.In 2001 it was reported that there was sort of a scandal when the Bow Priest Society reprimanded him for using the Society's ceremonial elk horn for carvings he made for sale. Signed AW.
