Plateau flat beaded bags (from tribes such as the Nez Perce, Yakama, Umatilla, Cayuse, and others in the Columbia Plateau region) frequently incorporated floral motifs, especially from the late 19th century onward. These designs evolved from earlier stylized, symmetrical patterns (often tripartite or with abstracted elements) to more naturalistic and detailed representations.
