Hand Coiled McDonald and Painted Smudged Bowl with a Smudged Interior from Southwest Mogollon with Slightly Textured Surface and Paint
In Good Condition and has Breaks and Glued Back Pieces as Pictured with just one Small Missing Piece an Old Timer Glue
From an Important Texas Private Collection
The bowl features a painted design and slightly raised band just below the rim and overall lightly textured surface. Outside the Mogollon Highlands, corrugation or texturing the exterior surface was primarily reserved for cooking pots. Corrugation also offers “grip-ability”,. The smudged pottery interior is more watertight and resistant to abrasion.
