In Hopi tradition, the Koyemsi (Mudhead) is one of the most popular Katsinam (spirit beings represented in dolls and dances). Unlike many Kachinas that embody natural forces or deities, the Mudhead serves as a clown or entertainer. They appear in nearly every Hopi ceremonial dance to bring humor, teach social lessons, and remind participants of human fallibility. Mudheads often mimic dancers, engage in playful contests with the audience, or act as drummers during breaks. They symbolize humility, joy, and community.

Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
