Hopi Kachina dolls (also spelled Katsina or Tithu) are sacred carvings central to Hopi culture in northeastern Arizona. These figures represent katsinam—supernatural spirits that embody natural elements like rain, crops, animals, and ancestors. According to Hopi tradition, katsinam descend from the San Francisco Peaks to teach life lessons, ensure harmony with nature, and bring rain for agriculture. Men in Hopi villages impersonate these spirits during winter ceremonies (from December to July), wearing elaborate masks and costumes while dancing in village plazas.
Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
