Hand carved from Cottonwood Root
Excellent Condition
Randy Honanie is a contemporary Hopi carver from the Third Mesa village of Hotevilla, part of the renowned Honanie family of artisans (including relatives like Philbert, Delbridge, Logan, and Ernest Honanie). The Honanie clan is celebrated for reviving "old-style" kachina carving traditions—simple, unadorned forms using only pocket knives, natural earth pigments, and cottonwood root sourced from sacred areas like the San Juan River. This approach contrasts with more elaborate "new-style" dolls and aims to preserve cultural authenticity while educating outsiders about Hopi spirituality.
Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
