The artist Lewis is a Hopi or Zuni artisan from the Lewis family, known for kachina work (e.g., Milland Lewis or similar carvers), Hopi artists often sign with family names.
Shalako Taka ("Cloud Man") – A tall, bird-like figure with a beak-like mask, ruffled collar, and cloud motifs. It represents the Shalako ceremony, a winter solstice event bringing blessings for the new year.

The Shalako kachina is central to Hopi cosmology, embodying the power of clouds to bring life-giving rain to arid lands.  Dolls like this are not toys but teaching tools, passed down in families or sold to preserve traditions. If by a Lewis family artist, it ties into Hopi carvers from Second Mesa villages like Shipaulovi, where the Lewis clan has produced renowned kachina work since the mid-20th century.
