The Hopi Kachina White Ogre Doll, known as Wiharu Katsina (or simply "White Ogre"), is a traditional carved wooden figure from Hopi Pueblo culture in northeastern Arizona. These dolls represent supernatural spirits (katsinam) central to Hopi religious ceremonies, storytelling, and education. Wiharu is one of a pair of disciplinarian ogres, alongside the Black Ogre (Nataska), and serves as a "boogeyman" figure to instill moral lessons in children.
Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
