Hand Built from Micaceous Clay of 3 Taos Bears Holding Each Other
In Very Good Condition
Jason Mondragon, a Taos Pueblo (Tiwa) artist. He has been creating these bears since he was a teenager (nearly 40 years as of recent descriptions). His son Ben has also been involved in the work. Traditional micaceous clay (mica-rich, sparkling clay traditionally used in Taos pottery, often sourced locally, including from sacred areas like Blue Lake). Pieces are hand-built/sculpted and wood-pit fired using traditional Pueblo techniques. They have a distinctive shimmering, golden-brown appearance from the mica.
