Ute cradle (more precisely known as a Ute cradleboard) is a traditional baby carrier used by the Ute people, a Native American tribe primarily from the regions of Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico.
Cradleboards are a widespread practice among many Indigenous North American tribes, serving as a portable carrier, sleeping place, and protective device for infants. They allow mothers (or other caregivers) to carry the baby securely on their back or propped nearby while working, traveling, or gathering food, while keeping the child safe and allowing them to observe their surroundings and maintain eye contact with others.
