The Greenland Inuit tupilik amulet is a fascinating and iconic element of Greenlandic Inuit (Kalaallit) culture and mythology. Inuit shamanism, a tupilak was not just an amulet but an avenging spirit or monster. It was created in secret using a mix of natural materials like animal bones, skin, hair, sinew, feathers, teeth. The shaman would perform rituals and chants to animate it, directing the tupilak to attack an enemy, cause illness, misfortune, or death.  It was used to ward off evil spirits.
