She is the great-granddaughter of the legendary Nampeyo of Hano (the founder of the Sikyatki revival style) and the granddaughter of Fannie Nampeyo (one of Nampeyo’s most skilled daughters).  Her father was Harold Polacca; she learned pottery-making primarily from her grandmother Fannie.  She has been active since around 1979 and comes from a family of potters, including siblings like Clinton Polacca and Reva Polacca Ami.
