with rim stitch loss as pictured. A well woven basket with black devils claw start. Has a very faded aniline dyed willow motif near the center which is almost gone. There was a late 19th century use of soaking colored tissue paper in water with willow to transfer color to the willow which was used by the Paiute, Havasupai and Chemehuevi. Most of these baskets show a very faint motif as the dye transfer was very light and did not hold well.
