Ben Lomakema is a Hopi artisan specializing in traditional kachina (katsina) dolls, part of the well-known Lomakema family from the Hopi Pueblo in Arizona. The Lomakema family has a prominent lineage of kachina carvers, producing these sacred spirit representations that are deeply rooted in Hopi culture.

Kachina dolls are hand-carved from cottonwood root, painted with natural pigments, and adorned with feathers, leather, and other materials. They represent spiritual beings (katsinam) that bring rain, fertility, and other blessings to the Hopi people, and are traditionally given to children during ceremonies to teach them about the spirits.
