Hand Carved from Cottonwood Root with Feathers Old Style Route 66

Excellent Condition

In the 1960-1990s a lot of old style dolls were being made, some Native, some non-Native.  Although this likely is Navajo, it might not be. It is carved correctly from cotton wood. Quite handsome.

Kachina dolls are carved representations of kachinas—spiritual beings in Hopi, Zuni, and other Pueblo cultures—used to teach children about their religion and cosmology. Traditionally made from cottonwood root, they depict various kachinas, each with specific roles like bringing rain, fertility, or discipline. Dolls range from simple, flat figures to intricate, detailed carvings, often painted with natural pigments and adorned with feathers, leather, or cloth.

Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
