Woody Sewemaenewa (Hopi, active mid-20th century onward) is a master carver from Second Mesa, related to other noted artists like Paul Sewemaenewa and Alfred "Bo" Lomahquahu.  His works draw inspiration from traditional Hopi forms but incorporate fluid, realistic movements. While no specific "Helili" carving by him is documented in my searches, he has created numerous guard and warrior Kachinas (e.g., Broadfaced, Corn Dancer) that align with Helili's style.  His pieces are prized for their quality, often sold through galleries like Ancient Nations or Native American Jewelry stores, emphasizing single-piece wood carving without glue.
The Helili Kachina originated from Acoma or Laguna Pueblos (where it's known as Heleleka) and was adopted by the Hopi around the late 19th century through cultural exchange.  The name "Helili" derives from the distinctive call or whistle it makes during performances ("he-li-li!"). Initially viewed with suspicion by some Hopi communities (even called a "witch" or Powak Kachina), it has since become a respected guard Kachina.
