Woodlands Beaded Garter Belts are a pair of antique Native American artifacts from the Eastern Woodlands cultural region (encompassing tribes/groups in the Great Lakes and eastern U.S. areas).
These are traditional loom-woven beaded garters often called garter belts or leg bands in historical contexts), dating to the third quarter of the 19th century (roughly 1850–1875). They measure about 2 1/4 inches wide by 16 inches long, featuring intricate beadwork typical of Woodlands Indigenous craftsmanship—likely geometric patterns in glass seed or pony beads on a woven base, used historically to secure leggings just below the knee.
