Elaine Salazar is a contemporary Santa Clara Pueblo potter specializing in traditional black‑on‑black and polished blackware vessels, including small bowls, jars, vases, and miniature forms. Her work is grounded in the classic Tewa pottery tradition of Santa Clara Pueblo and is produced using fully traditional methods

Elaine is part of one of Santa Clara’s most respected multi‑generational pottery families:

  • Mother: Frances Naranjo Salazar (1936–2002) — a well‑known Santa Clara potter

  • Grandmother: Flora Naranjo (1905–1989) — influential matriarch known for large hand‑coiled jars

  • Siblings: Angela Salazar, Sophie Cata (b. 1957), Yolanda Velarde — all active Santa Clara potters

This lineage places Elaine within a long, award‑winning family tradition recognized at events such as Santa Fe Indian Market.
